Product Review: Embrace The Natural You Twist Truffle Whip (The Braiding Files #5)
Price: $13 for 8 oz
Ingredients: Water, Aloe Vera Leaf Juice, Behentrimonium Methosulfate (and) Cetearyl Alcohol, Unrefined Shea Butter, Mango Butter, Sweet Almond Oil, Avocado Oil, Vegetable Emulsifying Wax, Extra Virgin Organic Coconut Oil, Jamaican Black Castor Oil, Vitamin E, Fragrance and Essential Oils. **NOTE: According to the website, as of 2/2/16, this product no longer has shea butter, Jamaican black castor oil, or vegetable emulsifying wax. So it may be even more low porosity friendly!
Scent: Light

Results: I bought this product last September at a market near my job. As a nice bonus, this is a Michigan-based company, so I can pick it up on the ground. When I purchased it, I met the owner, who uses her product on her own hair (bonus #2).
While I have been using this product for a while now, it has taken me this long to review it because I was not certain what to say. It leaves my hair soft and gave it nice sheen about 8 times out of 10. The rest of the time, my hair was really dry, and felt coated, and I wanted to figure out why because I really like this product. I have realized two things. First, I need to use water or a very moisturizing leave-in under this product for it to work well on my hair. If I don’t put enough moisture into my hair under this product, it leaves my hair dry. While this product comes with its own moisture built in, my greedy hair needs more. As I mentioned in my post on coconuts, I need a lot of water for coconut to work in my hair.
Second, if I use a heavier/coating
leave-in under this product, the residue from the this product will combine
with the residue from the leave-in, and my hair feels coated. As I note above, the ingredients have
changed, and the more heavy/coating ingredients have been removed, so it may
now be perfect for me. I plan to try the
new formulation soon. Maybe the new
formulation will be a “love it”.As an aside, this product reminds me a lot of Annabelle's Perfect Blend Hair Creme in both texture and the way it works on my hair,
except APB does not have coconut oil.
Thus, if you already like that product, you may want to try this, and
vice versa.

Promise: Blueberry Cheesecake Deep
Conditioner is a moisture rich conditioner made with organic blueberry seed oil
and other oils known for their hair benefits. It will eliminate dryness and
leave hair noticeably softer and more manageable. Your hair will have amazing
slip for easy detangling!
Scent: Undeniably Blueberry
Consistency: Like a light lotion
Results: I really wanted to like
this deep conditioner because it smells heavenly, but my hair would not let
me. I tried this three times as an
overnight, and it left my hair dry each time.
As I was writing this review, however, I noticed that the ingredients
and the packaging are now different online.
In the new formulation, the conditioning agent is now closer to the top;
there is no cocoa seed butter; and there are less oils, so maybe I will try it
again. I do love the moisturizing hair creme from
this line.

Product Review: Annabelle's Perfect Blend Birthday Cake Hair Creme
Price: $10
for 4 oz.
Promise: Our rich and creamy Hair Crème will add moisture and shine to the dryest hair! This crème can be used on damp or dry hair daily without weighing it down. Whether your hair is natural, permed, or relaxed, you will love the results!
Scent: Smells like white chocolate cake batter
Consistency: Good buttercream frosting (like Just Baked cream cheese frosting from the red velvet cupcake if you live in Michigan)
Results: I
was a little hesitant to use this with the butters, but water as the first
ingredient convinced me. I’m glad it
did. I used this as a leave in, a
sealant, a moisturizer and a styler and it worked every way. It made my hair feel awesome and surprisingly
moisturizing. Also, a little goes a long
way, but I still think it was expensive for 4 oz. I will likely buy this again if there is a sale because it rocks, just not enough to pay full price.

Product Review: Annabelle’s Perfect Blend White Chocolate Mousse Hair Mask (The Deep Conditioner Files #7)
Price: $10 for 4 oz.
Promise: From
the website - Chocolate Mousse Moisture Intense Mask is a deep conditioning
mask that will impart much needed moisture back into your hair. It packs a
powerful punch with its blend of cocoa butter and marshmallow root.
Scent: Chocolate

Consistency: Super
thick, like softened butter or thick mud.
I forgot to take a picture of the consistency before I used the last of
this.
Results: I used this as an overnight deep conditioner at least twice. I was actually surprised at how well my low porosity hair liked it because of the thickness and because my hair doesn't usually like Emulsifying Wax. This
left my hair feeling soft, strong and moisturized. It reminded me a lot of the Pura Body Chocolate Hair Smoothie in the scent and the way it made my hair feel, but I
think I like the Pura Body version better because it is lighter.
